Brian, my loving husband and father of our 3 lovely daughters has been our strength and our provider. We are a strong Christian family. We have drawn our strenght from Christ for this time. We know God has a plan for us.
We have been happily married for 28 years without any known health issues. He was diagnosed with Tartive Oromandibular Dystonia, a neurological disorder. He was officially diagnosed September 2015 but had been experiencing the symptoms of Dystonia for 2 years prior to his diagnosis. His case is very severe because the muscle spasms and clenching of jaw and face have not been controlled with Botox or medication. He has not been able to work. Prior to his diagnosis he worked for Exxon and we lived overseas for 10 years and just returned to the States a year age. It is so surprising because he has never been sick in his entire life. Currently, we are in the process of applying for long-term disability because he can no longer work.
There is no cure for Dystonia, but it can be controlled with Botox and medication. Neither of these have worked for Brian, so the doctor is going to do a jaw replacement because he has a calcium deposit and cannot open his mouth. He might also need the Deep Brain Stimulation to continue to help with Dystonia.
The money that we are trying to raise will help with not only medical expenses, but basic living expenses as well. Every 8 weeks Brian needs Botox shots so he can try to manage his unbearable pain from the clenching in his jaw.
He has been the sole provider for our family for 20 years.
